Last night I went over to the Lincoln Park Zoo to photograph the holiday lights that are up around the place. It’s been awhile since I’ve made some images just for me, so I decided to do an abstract light experiment and create something a little different.

Using various camera techniques, I played around with exposure time and focus, while simultaneously moving my camera rather quickly through a tree covered in multicolored lights.

Over the course of about 75 minutes I stood around at the zoo doing this, which I’m pretty sure to anyone watching I looked like an idiot. My feet got a little cold and I had to take a few photographs of various couples, but I’m fairly happy with how these turned out.

Before the exhibit is over, I might try to go back there one more time to see if I can expand upon what I accomplished last night.
