Saturday morning I wandered around a bit, but the cold weather and afternoon plans kept me located to my neighborhood. After shooting a few things outside, I decided to head to the botanical garden. I originally started shooting with macro gear, then shooting the trains in the holiday displays, but nothing was working.
As I was leaving, I started to look at things a bit differently and noticed the light reflecting nicely through the panes of glass that separate the rooms. After a few test shots, I finally found something that was working and that I hadn’t really shot before.
When I first started out in design, my aesthetic gravitated toward a grungy, unrefined style. Something about that feeling I like to naturally find in photography.

This was taken back in August when the weather was crazy for a couple of weeks. The small dots on the water are boats (in the lower left).
