In early fall I had the privilege of being able to work on variety of photographic endeavors for the show Rest at Victory Gardens Theater here in Chicago. The show was written by, now MacArthur Fellow, Samuel D. Hunter and directed by Joanie Shultz.

The show was set in a retirement home, that was about to be shut down, in northern Idaho. A few staff remained when a blizzard struck causing everyone to face their own mortality. If this sounds a little interesting to you, you can read the TimeOut Chicago review.

For me, the interesting thing about theater is the entire life-cycle. I love being able to see early sketches and plans, watching things change in rehearsal, and ultimately seeing the set come together and watching the actors bring to life the words that were carefully crafted by the playwright.

In order of first appearance (from left to right): MaryAnn Thebus, William J. Norris, McKenzie Chinn, Steve Key, Amanda Drinkall, Matt Farabee, and Ernest Perry Jr.

Technical work by: Stage Manager Tina M. Jach; Dramaturg Isaac Gomez; Set Design Chelsea Warren; Lighting Design Lee Keenan; Costume Design Janice Pytel; Costume Design Assistant Sarah Jo White; Sound Design Thomas Dixon; Prop Design Kenton Jones; Production Assistant/Wardrobe Mandy Stertz; Production Assistant Alison Perron; Assistant Director Maggie Rogers; Technical Director Justin Snyder; Production Manager Scott Miller; Master Electrician/Facilities Tom Albright; Scenic Artist Scott Gerwitz; Scenic Artist Julie Ruscitti.
